My professional careers take at least three directions, teaching English, teaching and practicing law, and, most recently, writing historical fiction. While teaching English, mainly Chaucer, I co-edited an early fourteenth-century edition of the Book of Psalms, the first complete book of the Bible translated into (Middle) English prose. While teaching constitutional law and torts and practicing law in the areas of personal injury and civil rights, I wrote a book about a client who was the first woman to be admitted into the Corps of Cadets at The Citadel. Within the past few years, however, I have been working on a book about a free black man during the Revolutionary War. I hope to have that book out in 2016. I have also contributed to a collection of poetry published in England.
I enjoy spending time between Charleston, South Carolina, and Bozeman, Montana. I have two adult sons. I also maintain an active law practice.
